Hongfa Latching Relays

A Latching relay is very similar to a standard relay except that the contact Latch and Unlatch on the application of power to the coil. Latching relays uses one or two electromagnetic coils to attract the relay armature which can contain 1 or several contacts.

A Latching relays (also referred to impulse relays) maintains either contact position indefinitely without power applied to the coil. The advantage is that the coil consumes power only for an instant while the relay is being switched, and the relay contacts retain this setting across a power outage.

Small Latching relays are often used for energy saving, as no continuously energised coil, whereas larger Latching relays are used for high amperage and also high voltage DC switching. The nature of the Latching relays mechanism gives the relays extremely large making and more importantly breaking capacity needed when switching high amperages or high DC voltages.
